The Texas State death databases are comprised of entries from 1964-1998 displayed in straight text, 1956-1963 & 1999-on displayed in graphic presentation form. Specifically years 1964-1998 are organized as Robust-SQL and years 1956-1963 & 1999-on virtual-fiche.
This Texas Deaths database is comprised of over 4 million name entries from 1964-1998 displayed in straight text form (using robust-SQL).
Selecting this database link will cause the following data entry form to appear:
In Texas, death records do not become open public records until they are 25 years old. Indexes for open records years are referred to as general indexes, and indexes for years which are not yet open to the public are called summary indexes. Those fields tagged "g" are applicable to general index years only.
Each name entry has 8 associated fields; Last_Name, First_Name, Middle_Name, Name_Suffix, Death_Date, County_of_Death, Sex, Marital_Status.
The Searcher may enter data into any one or all fields, however it is recommended that only one be used. In the event that the potential results are impracticably long (eg. Last_Name="Smith") then other field entries can be sparingly used.
To facilitate search flexibility, a wildcard "%", may be used and is recommended especially where the name spellings are uncertain. So, as an example entering "mary%" in the "First_Name" field would yield all births for a given year having first names with beginning letters "mary" (eg. mary, maryjane, maryann. . )
The selected sheet will contain 268 individual frames plus two index frame (organized in a 15x18 matrix) where your Subject's name will appear if it's in this database year-window. Rather than selecting each of the 268 individual frames, it is strongly recommended that the Searcher select the "idx" and "idy" (for index) link at the lower right of the sheet. This will lead you to a page that will provide you with a further name breakdown for each sheet.
