About This Database
The Kentucky Deaths database is displayed in straight text form (using robust-SQL).
Selecting this database link will cause the following data entry form to appear:
Each name entry has 14 associated fields; Last_Name, First_Name, Middle_Name, Year_of_Death, Month_of_Death, Day_of_Death, Age, County_of_Death, County_of_Residence, File_Volume_Number, Certificate_Number.
The Searcher may enter data into any one or all fields, however it is recommended that only one be used. In the event that the potential results are impracticably long (eg. Last_Name="Smith") then other field entries can be sparingly used.
To facilitate search flexibility, a wildcard "%", may be used and is recommended especially where the name spellings are uncertain. So, as an example entering "mary%" in the "First_Name" field would yield all births for a given year having first names with beginning letters "mary" (eg. mary, maryjane, maryann. . )
Field Specifications:
Last Name(Last_Name): Alpha string (a-z), 30 characters max. length, no special characters; spaces allowed; not case sensitive.
First Name(First_Name): Alpha string (a-z), 30 characters max. length, no special characters; spaces allowed; not case sensitive.
Middle Initial(M): Alpha string (a-z), 30 characters max. length, no special characters; spaces allowed; not case sensitive.
Year of Death(D_yr): 4 numbers (eg. 1970)
Month of Death(Dm): 2 numbers (eg. 11)
Day of Death(Da): 2 numbers (eg. 03)
Age(Age): 3 numbers (eg. 073; special situation, U/1=under one year old)
County of Death(County): Abreviation of the Kentucky County. Alpha string (a-z), 15 characters max. length, no special characters; spaces allowed; not case sensitive.
County of Residence(Residence_County): The exact spelling of the Kentucky County, (eg. "Franklin", "Casey" etc.)
Year of Birth(B_yr): 4 numbers (eg. 1970)
Month of Birth(Bm): 2 numbers (eg. 11)
Day of Birth(Ba): 2 numbers (eg. 03)
File_Volume_Number(Vol): up to 3 numbers, (eg. 095).
Certificate_Number(FileN): up to 5 numbers, (eg. 55139).
